In order to get a similar outcome, those who do not use the remy quality destroy the hair scales with very strong acids, using decidedly aggressive silicones and dyes. This decomposes all hair pigment (pheomelanin).

On the top of each lock of hair, Cole Mullen attaches a thin sheet of keratin which, being distinct from silicones, perfectly blends with the hair since it is a natural component of hair itself.

The keratin shows inwardly well spread hair for its whole thickness and it is characterized by a peculiar folding v shape.
